mail.

That's one way of looking at it.

We stayed close to the resort and did resort things today.

We got our mail today.  For those of you who do not know we are full time RVers.  In order to have our mail taken care of we have a mail box service.  Our mail is sent there and they take care of it until we go on line and order it to go where ever we are.  They will send it how ever we want, airmail, 3 day or the slow boat to wherever.  We have ever done the slow boat one.

Well the mail came.  We got some important camping news and some family letters, yes we do still have those that have not gotten into the email times and have to use snail mail.  It was great hearings from them and all their exciting news.

Rog's parents and aunt and uncle RVed most of their lives.  Rog's parent settled down in one place after health issues took over.  But Rog's aunt and uncle are still going strong.  Their kids had a family meeting and wished they would get rid of the RV and not travel the roads any more.  His uncle is 88 and I am not sure, but I think his aunt is older.  Well they traded their RV in for the train and buses.  They are still traveling all over the country.  They were at the National Parks Convention of the National Parks Travel Club.  They had Smokey the Bear bring in a large serving cart with a huge cake and sang Happy Birthday to celebrated his 88th birthday.  Ray said it was the biggest birthday cake he has ever had.  It served 150.    He was also honored there with a plaque for having visited  390 (I understand there are 394 in all) sites administered by the National Parks System.  Way to go Ray!!!

We also recieved our 1099's or whatever they are called now.  So Rog is working on just how much we owe the government in taxes.  It would not frost me so much to pay if they were spending it frugally.  This is a wonderful country and I gladly give even twice as much as I pay, but take care of things people as if it is your money.  Well enough said they do think it is their money to spend for the good of them not for the good of the nation.

I also found a cross stitch table cloth I have had for years.  It is oh a quarter done so I thought I would try working on it.  I use to do that kind of stuff all the time.  It definitely uses different muscles in my hands than knitting does.

This is for my math teacher daughter.  LOL

Just another glorious day

there you go that works.

Went out this morning on a walk.  It was short because my meds had not kicked in yet.  After I get up and out by mid day I can handle things better.  I guess a morning walk should be postponed until mid day, but then it is too hot.  So evening then?   Anyway we were talking with a couple that were just coming in.  The site they got was really pretty so I mentioned that to them.   He said they had the choice of that site and 3 others.  Wow they are filling up.

Last night was Red Box movie night, Saturday there is really nothing to watch on TV.  No the movies weren't that good for me to miss the blog either.  Well Rog took the movies back at noon and when coming back into the resort he noticed 10 rigs waiting to be assigned sites.  And he also noticed rigs leaving.  They had a new sign when we came in this time that said you would be fined $37.24 if you were not out my 11:00, which is our check out time.  My guess is that this is the cost of an extra day.  If they only threaten this means nothing.  If they want it to mean something they will have to follow through.

We watched some of the Pebble Beach Golf on TV and see the beautiful shot of the coast line and all made us both long for the West.
I thought there was going to be a great sun set, but the clouds moved out as I was watching and it was just so so.

A long neck indeedy

forgot to blog oops

cute.

I forgot to blog!!! I can not believe that.

It's not because I was busy.  It's not because there was no internet.   I just did not have news and I just plain forgot.

It was a great day, sun shining and clear and warm.

refrig light/mail delays/math

Just saying!!

We were told there would be delays in mail delivery because of the weather. Yes, I can understand that, but also because of, get this, Marti Gras.  There are going to be road closers from the 9th through the 11th because of the parades and parties.  This would affect mail delivery to  Florida, Georgia, and Mississippi and some others too.

Rog did some readjusting the passenger side slide out.  We think it is good now.

We went up for a spaghetti dinner.  It was good as usual.  They are going to have a Western Band play later tonight.  We will be going up to listen.  We heard some of the practice at dinner and sounded great.

So glad we are not up North with this weather.

This is a true story:  Our daughter teaches math in 7th grade.  She had a parent teacher meeting with a mom about her son's math grades.  Laura was trying to explain what she thought the was the problem.  When the mom heard Laura was talking about algebra she said,  "Algebra is not needed in life so my son does not need to learn it."
So whenever, which is a lot of the class time in 7th grade, Laura teaches algebra this student states out loud;  "My mom says I do not need to learn this." and he doesn't even listen, or try to do the problems, does not do the homework. He refuses to do anything  that has to do with algebra.   What can a teacher do now?  Mom said! so that is that.

Tom is Home!!!/don't worry/car fixed

0 Days Until Tom is Home!!!
He landed in Seattle had a 5 hour lay over and boarded his plane for home at 2:40 and is in the air now.  Soon it will be over and he will be home!!  That is such a good thing to say: Tom is Home!!

We stayed home and get this I took a well desired nap!  I didn't do anything to day, but this was for the other days that I needed a nap and could not take one.  LOL

We did get the Birthday shopping done for the year.  I wrapped them and we packed them up and sent them on there way.  I have hired Sam to disturb them at the appropriate dates.  I think she like thes power this has and she can be a "Santa" if you will.  It is hard buying gifts for the grandkids when we are so far away and not visiting with them a lot to find out what is "cool" if that's even the word we use now days.

We also fixed the car.

I wrote before about the strut breaking.  This is the one strut that is good, we thought, and the other side Rog took out. We decided since one went the other was just waiting to go.  So we needed to replace both struts.  He went to the auto parts stores and found one that could order only one.  It came in today, we got it and fixed the car.

I thought I would put a little drama in the blog.  The tail gate was very heavy.  But Rog got it up and then I could hold it until he repaired it.  Come to find out the one that was there when we began was the worn out one so we had to replace that one with the one good one we had left.

All I have to say is get the pic taken and get this job done this thing is HEAVY!!!!  We are getting some rain tonight.  It is warm and raining, oh goody.

lake/Bingo

So start making the best of everything now.
1 Day Until Tom is Home!!!
That means tomorrow at 6:23 PM he will be home with his family!!!!

I forgot to post the pix of our new location.  I am all decorated for Valentines Day.  I really should get another heart, there are two of us.

It is a big spot with the woods behind us.  I am so glad there are no trees over head.  The last resort we were under an acorn tree with Steve the squirrel busy harvesting them on our roof and boy was that noisy.  The poor dogs were trying to hide from the noise and there was no place to go inside the RV to get away.  Maggie was ready to walk back to Orlando and wait for us to get here.  I was ready to go with her too.

We decided to get out this morning and head for the lake to kayak.  We noticed right away that the water level was down a lot.  We  launched out and had a great time.  It is a small lake, but full of wild life.
Rog has already sent me out on the lake and he is pushing off for a fun day of kayaking.
He has the right idea of floating along whenever you can.  We talked about how it was great to go into the Gulf of Mexico so you can say you kayaked it, but this lake is so much easier kayaking than fighting the current and incoming tide on the Gulf.
Ship wreck?  No we think abandoned.
A type of water bird digesting a fish.
These are turkey vultures having fun floating on the air currents
Rog is on the move.
Another water bird, maybe a wood stork, because of the wing markings.

These are Sand Hill Cranes heading for the RV resort.  They have a couple of sets that are here a lot.  I can tell these guys because of their call.
This is an Egret.  The next pix are of him taking off.  It is a beautiful sight to see, so enjoy.

Gone
This was the only water lily blooming today on the lake.  There were buds.  I am thinking they need more sun to coax them open.   It is a very over cast day with a chance of rain maybe.  We think that rain is going to be up north.
A lone bee in the lone flower.

I like to keep Rog between the bank of the lake and me in case we spot an alligator.  LOL
looking across the lake sitting in the water lilies.  It was so quite and peaceful.  I like the sound the water lilies make on the bottom of the kayak as I glide over the tops of them.
This is the only alligator we saw today.

I did not get closer because Rog was aways away and I did not want to scare the alligator before Rog got to see it.  It is quite close to me, well close enough anyway.

"Get up there closer so I can get a pic with you and that alligator."  He's fine you guys!!!
I am off to Bingo tonight.  Will post when I get home what happened.  I wanted to get this written because I might be late.  Nope donated tonight, but had a lot of fun.

rv

2 Days Until Tom is Home!!!!!
texted with Tom on Facebook.  He is so happy.  He said it was snowing there in Japan and is hoping that will not delay his flight.  He does not think so because he does not board his flight for 33 hours and the storm should be over by then.  He boards in 33 hours, has a 14 hour flight, a 2 hour lay over in Seattle, and then arrives home.  So he will be home soon.

We decided to put the kayak trail together  and get the kayaks off the top of the car.  Putting them on the trail instead of the ground we may use them more.  We are thinking tomorrow we will take them out into the lake here at the resort.  Then we have been told that Lake Dora and canals too are a neat kayak trip.  Lake Dora is close.   So we are thinking that would be a great place to put in.

We were in the process of getting the stuff off the top of the trailer parts in the car when one of the struts on the lift gate of the car crashed and burned.  That lift gate on the back of the car is very heavy!  I thought it was heavy until he took the one strut that was working off and then it became  terribly heavy.  We needed to finish what we started so I was voted lift gate prop person.  Rog went to the auto parts store and they had to order them.  They said they would be in this afternoon.  Well he thought her heard this afternoon, but no one called so tomorrow he is off  to find out which afternoon they really meant.  LOL

We have all the awnings up and the lights are twinkling brightly and all looks great.   The kayak trail is put together ready for fun.
