Day 10 of 49

Today we headed out to kayak Prince Edward Island.  We are in the bay headed for the Stricker River.  They use this launch for the big boys.  The green boat is getting ready to head out with peeps on a fishing trip and tour of the island.

We saw birds on our travels.

Osprey

Plovers

Belted Kingfisher

Rog kayaking along, in the distance you can see the buoys for the mussel farms they are starting on the island.  I guess they have long lines and the mussels grow on them.

The sights along the river

This is only offered in the Atlantic Provinces, I have been told.

Yummmmmm  I had one today and it was good.

Churches along the road.

We went to the bottle house.  Very interesting and pretty.  First we get a message in a bottle which Rog is reading.  What a cute way to give you a description of the park.

Main house with gardens.

church alter

The pews were made from discarded alter candle holders.

The main house.

The many different kinds of bottle used and colors too.  He used over 25,000 bottles.

We went to an Island singing program.  They are called Ceilidh. A ceilidh /'keili/ is a traditional Gaelic social gathering, which usually involves playing Gaelic folk music and dancing. It originated in Ireland and Scotland.   The group was two sisters and a brother and mom stepped in a couple of times.  I do mean stepped in because she was step dancing with the girls.  Just think River Dance.  They were great musicians and singers.  It was a great program.  We had ice cream and strawberries.  They felled the house last night.

We are off tomorrow for Nova Scotia .  This is where Rog's Grandfather and Great Grandfather were from.  We are going to see if we can poke around the town where they lived while we are here.
So Road Trip!!!  The puppies just hate to hear those words.
