Belfast Maine

We traveled 150 miles north up the coast of Maine to Belfast. Belfast is located at the mouth of the Passagadsawakeag River estuary on Penobscot Bay. Here we met up with friends from the Alaska trip we took a while back.   Half of the group showed up, that is amazing to me.  It was great seeing them and catching up on things.  

It is so pretty here.  We are parked right at the edge of the bay and it is so beautiful.  The trip here was uneventful, which we love.

We took the kayaks out in the water.  It was so calm and smooth, just like glass.  Don is out taking pix and enjoying the day.

We kayaked a ways out to this thingy in the water.  I am not sure what it is, but maybe a light house at one time?  Now it is being used as a big perch for sea birds.

This is a view of our rig from the kayak.  Ours is the one where the smoke is.  No, we are not on fire, but it is a fire from a camp site behind us.  We are experiencing low tide as you can see. 

We are not sure what boat this is, but it is a big one.  This is the only big boat we saw.  There were sail boats and a few motor boats.  The day was perfect for kayaking you really could not have had a better day or water.

We then left to have lobster dinner with friends.  It was called The Lobster Pound.  It is right on the water and you ordered your lobster by the pound no frills, out in the patio on picnic tables.  It was great.  I also ate my first mussels there.  Not bad.
